Who I am

Hello! I'm Doruk Alkan, a junior data analyst based in Istanbul, Turkey.

I majored in linguistics at Boğaziçi University, where I learned to identify patterns in language and understand the systems behind them. I approach data in a similar way: analyzing patterns, forming hypotheses, and deriving structured insights from datasets.

My academic studies covered computational linguistics, NLP, statistics, hypothesis testing, and experimental design, primarily using Python and R.

What I do

I'm currently a data science trainee working on end-to-end analytical workflows:

  • Querying and transforming data using SQL and BigQuery
  • Analyzing and visualizing datasets in Python
  • Building automated interactive dashboards in Looker Studio and Power BI
  • Structuring transformations using dbt to create version-controlled data layers
  • Implementing event tracking systems using Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4

I have hands-on experience working with datasets across domains such as e-commerce, finance, product, marketing, and web analytics, focusing on turning raw data into actionable insights and systems.
